Nvidia Unveils RTX Spark, Bringing Powerful AI Agents Directly to Personal Computers

Nvidia Unveils RTX Spark, Betting on a New Era of AI-Powered PCs

Nvidia has introduced the RTX Spark, a new AI-focused processor designed to bring advanced artificial intelligence capabilities directly to laptops and desktop computers. The company describes the chip as a major step toward creating what it calls the “personal AI computer.”

The announcement comes as Nvidia continues to dominate the AI hardware market, with its processors powering many of the world’s leading AI systems. The company recently reached a record valuation of $5 trillion, underscoring its central role in the AI industry.

Unlike many current AI services that rely on cloud-based processing, RTX Spark is designed to run AI inference locally on the device. Nvidia argues that this approach improves privacy, security, and user control while reducing dependence on external servers.

According to Nvidia, RTX Spark can run large AI models with up to 120 billion parameters and support context windows of up to one million tokens. This enables users to operate sophisticated AI agents directly on their PCs without sending sensitive data to the cloud.

Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang described the launch as a fundamental shift in personal computing.

“The PC is being reinvented,” Huang said, adding that users will increasingly rely on AI-powered systems that can perform tasks on their behalf rather than simply launching traditional applications.

The RTX Spark combines several of Nvidia’s core technologies into a single platform, including CUDA, RTX graphics capabilities, and the company’s AI software ecosystem. In addition to AI workloads, the processor is designed to support gaming, content creation, and video editing.

On the hardware side, RTX Spark delivers up to one petaflop of AI performance and supports as much as 128GB of memory. It pairs an Nvidia Blackwell RTX GPU featuring 6,144 CUDA cores and fifth-generation Tensor Cores with a 20-core Nvidia Grace CPU. Nvidia is also promising all-day battery life for devices powered by the new chip.

To strengthen security, Nvidia partnered with Microsoft to develop new Windows protections that allow AI agents to operate safely while remaining under user control. These features include tools that can mask personal information before requests are sent to cloud-based AI models.

The security framework has already been adopted by developers such as Hermes Agent and OpenClaw. Microsoft also plans to integrate RTX Spark-powered AI experiences directly into the Windows taskbar.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said the company’s goal is to bring “unmetered intelligence” to every home and workplace, describing RTX Spark as an important step toward that vision.

RTX Spark was developed in collaboration with MediaTek as part of a three-year partnership between Nvidia and Microsoft.

The first RTX Spark-powered devices are expected to launch this fall. Major PC manufacturers including Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Acer, Gigabyte, and Microsoft are expected to release systems based on the new processor.

However, Nvidia and its partners still face challenges in driving adoption of AI PCs. While industry analysts have highlighted the potential of AI-powered computers, sales have been slower than many expected. Gartner previously noted that tariffs and broader market uncertainty were limiting adoption, while Dell has suggested that AI features are not yet a primary factor in many customer purchasing decisions and may even create confusion among buyers.

Despite those challenges, Nvidia believes RTX Spark could help accelerate the transition toward AI-first personal computing by delivering powerful AI capabilities directly on users’ devices.
